James

Great design goes beyond a pretty room. It has the ability to touch every aspect of our lives. Star designer, James Saavedra, uses his meticulous, graceful approach to design to enrich lives in unexpected ways. The lifestyle artiste explains that interior design is the vehicle for sharing his philosophy that “Everyone deserves a life infused with beauty & style.” As a result, he is equally as comfortable working on a wine country estate as he is bringing beauty to those often ignored at places like a skilled nursing center or inner-city women’s shelter.

Saavedra’s 11-year career is rich with the experience needed to bring trustworthy insights to any project. His background includes teaching at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles, winning a coveted host spot on TLC’s Clean Sweep television program, appearing on HGTV as an industry expert and mentor, to co-creating a high-end, eco-furniture line JAK Studio Collection, and helming his own online design magazine, Fellow. James is also sought out as a key note speaker for industry events.

Known for his laser eye for details and the well-edited elegance of his design work, Saavedra is able to pinpoint the most important element of each project – his clients’ connections to their spaces. He professes that it is the smallest details that inform the whole and insists that the success of each project hinges upon those fine points.

"This simple idea that each and every element is just as valuable as the next is the guiding principal by which I design. When you walk into a room, you should have an instinctive connection – it should tug at your soul, be felt in your core, and in the tips of your toes!” For Saavedra, “A room is nothing if you can’t instantly recognize the human touch.”
